Today we have a multitude of distractions. We are no longer tethered to a single location to have a conversation with someone anywhere in the world. All of these distractions lead to an erosion in the quality of our listening. We multitask! We can talk while walking the dog, cleaning the car, bathing the children, eating dinner, just about anything. What does this say for the quality of our conversations?
Activity for Today
Call a friend and lend an ear. Really listen to what they have to say. Don't go into your experiences and troubles unless asked. This time is about them, what they are feeling and what they are needing. Really listen and provide empathy when needed.
