Watch this amazing video of a mysterious priest that comes to bring hope to this crash victim while calming her and the rescue workers that were on the scene. As mysteriously as he appeared, he disappeared when workers searched for him to thank him. God certainly works in mysterious ways! Read more... Today is a glorious day which God has made. Smell the roses, see the beauty in all he has made. Thank you God for your mercy and the beauty in all that you have made. Read This Beautiful Morning Prayer Reflecting on the Gospel reading today of Martha and Mary, Pope Francis explains to us that prayer and service must always be united to be truly effective. He uses the life of St. Benedict, whose motto was prayer and work, as an example of how our lives are best served. Pope Francis leaves on Monday for Brazil for World Youth Day. Stay tuned for more news from WYD Brazil! Read more... Our final two candidates were confirmed yesterday! Congratulations! It was a beautiful ceremony with Bishop Wilkerson. Our team is complete and we look forward to the Rite of Sending on Tuesday.
We are so proud of you all and look forward to your continued growth and faith as you continue on your journey of life. There is nothing quite so graphic as the famous paintings of St. Michael fighting with the devil. We too have our own personal battles which we call upon the aid of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to help us fight our spiritual demons. We also ask St. Michael to pray for us and to help defend us from evil. I have been having such a difficult time of late and this article could not have had better timing. I feel so unworthy to have been called to so great a task, so unable to do what God asks of me. Terrified that I am not up the task, I took my fears and doubts to confession. Father assured me that God only asks that we love Him, everything else falls into place from there. I wondered if it is that easy, then why am I having such a difficult time? After reading this article, I can see the forces of opposition working in my life to keep my focus from where it needs to be. This article spoke to me today in a time when I needed it most. I guess that's why they call it the Holy Spirit working in us. I hope it speaks to you. Read this great article of Pope Francis discussing battling with the devil on Jesuit terms. Those are pretty strong words. Very few of us know how we would react when faced with extreme risk or danger. While the 20th Century was the most violent in history, the 21st Century brings us a new terror in a wave of personal and senseless violence as we saw yesterday. But also we see, as we did in the 20th century, so many people who act with extreme love and kindness. Ordinary people who give or risk their lives for others. Ordinary people like you and me. We show that God lives within each and every one of us in the form of immense love. A true love that does not ask for anything in return. A love that gives from the depths of our soul. Let us pray for all of those who have lost loved ones and all of those who are suffering and for all of those who risked their own lives to help a brother in need. The 20th Century was one of the most violent on record. We experienced 2 world wars, civil war in many countries, genocides in Armenia, Germany, Bosnia, Cambodia, and Rwanda. The 21st Century still sees extreme violence in South Africa, the Middle East and Central America. We question our faith when we think of such violence and wonder how such violence can exist. Violence exists in our hearts and our minds and only we have the power to make a positive change in the world. Alongside the stories of violence, we have stories of immense love and passion. People who have stood up for what they believe in. People who gave their life for others and set an example for us. We have such great leaders who stood up for peace and were willing to give their life for what they believe in such as Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Ghandi, the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gytso, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, and Pope John Paul II. I am certainly not asking you to give your life, but to think about the daily choices you make. Are you willing to give a smile to stranger, help someone who is struggling, fight for a cause? We can change the world through the smallest of gestures a little bit at a time. Today is the Feast Day of St. Stanislaus who was a Bishop and Martyr. Coming from a family with social stature, he gave up everything he had and went into the priesthood. He wanted the king to lead a more Christian life and he stood up against the king when he committed evil acts and he was eventually killed by the king. He became a martyr for the cause. |
